In recognition of the 50th anniversary of Guy Debord’s First Situationist International, artists and collaborators from around the globe were invited to give an hour of their best Situationist-inspired performance/action.
Inside an upper story apartment, somewhere in Brooklyn, artist Maria Petschnig went to her window looked out onto the street and performed a series of intimate experiments using her body and an array of found clothes, underwear, handmade and sewn garments and appendages that have been altered in dysfunctional ways.
Petschnig's absurd play on the restrictions of and to the body tests the limitations of the public and private relationship between clothing, exhibitionism and fantasy.
